Nivea men Aftershave balm as a PRIMER ?!!

IMG_0876

Unless you are living under a rock, you may know that Nikkitutorials from Youtube, raved about the Nivea men sensitive Aftershave balm as a primer. She is using it in several videos and her makeup looks flawless as usual. I was very intrigued/skeptical at first, but with a price tag of just 7$ and the huge amount of product you get, i decided to put it to the test!

Primers are something i love to use on a regular basis because i find that they can make a huge difference in the longevity of my makeup. My main problem is that i have some dry patches, and they seem to like absorbing my foundation and leaving me with some weird looking chunky parts that almost looks caky.

The first thing i noticed is the smell. Well, it does disappear after the skin absorbs the product. you’re looking at around 40 minutes of smelling like a clean shaved man. The texture is quite unique, it’s a midway between a gel and a cream formula.

After applying a pea-size of the products on my face, i let it sit for a minute or so and then applied my makeup as i usually do.

Final thoughts after almost 10 hours of wearing heavy makeup, is that i love this Aftershave. Cheap, great formula, the finish, and the longevity are incredible. Definitely a keeper for me!

Peach & Bronze

In the winter time, i am all about that healthy and bronzy glow. I usually don’t fake tan as i am still looking for the perfect self tanner that won’t make me look like an oompa loompa. I am not either a big fan of pale skin on myself so to fake it, i find that the combination of bronzy and peachy colors are perfect for every gal with a pale to medium skin color. Here are few of my favorite products at the moment.

I use the Clarins Summer fever, as a bronzer and sometimes even to contour. It’s a cream to liquid consistency with a medium bronze colour and the tiniest touch of shimmer. I find it very easy to blend and it has a really natural effect on the skin.

If you prefer powders over liquid/cream bronzer, you will love the Guerlain Terracotta 4 season. For me, it gives the same effect you can have with Clarins Summer Fever but in a matte formula. It’s also great for contouring.

Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette is a win for me. As a big fan of the Naked eye palette, i was thrilled to know that they will release a face palette with a bronzer, a highlighter and a blush. If you don’t want to invest in 3 products, this is perfect for you. Travel friendly, great formula and pretty good colors.

Blush wise, my absolute favorite one is the BYS blush in coral. You need to try it, amazing formula, perfect peach color with a hint of shimmer and it only cost a few bucks. if you are wondering why mine looks a little weird on the picture, it’s because i broke it (twice!!) and tried to fix it (that’s how much i love it)

Another hit for me, Nars Gina and Revlon cream blush in the shade pinched. Both are matte, but i prefere the Nars as it stay longer on my cheeks throughout the day.

Peggy Sage Soleil D’Hiver is the kind of product i will repurchase over and over again! I absolutly love this drugstore highlighter. It adds the perfect glow to any makeup look without making you look like a disco ball. The only down side about it is that it can be a little bit powdery/messy (every time i open it, my whole vanity is highlighted).

Lipstick for fall

My favorite make up item is LIPSTICKS, i just love lipsticks and i probably own more than i should or need. I really think that a lipstick can change your style from casual to chic…
Here are some of my favorite lip colors for fall and winter.

The first one on the left is the Revlon just bitten kissable balm stain in Romantic. This is a weird one, when i first got it, it was expecting a more pigmented lip color but all it did was staining my lip in a beautiful sheer deep browny red color. After using it few times, i absolutely love it. It’s perfect for an every day use, the lips stay moisturized and glossy for several hours and even after eating/drinking you will be left with a really pretty sheer red stain.

In the same category of sheer wash of color there is the Maybelline Color whisper in Who wore it red-er. It’s more red than the Revlon one and it almost look pink when they are next to each other.
It’s also more shiny and moisturizing on the lips than the Revlon stain balm. The only down size about this one is that after only couple hours you need to reapply it.

On the right side, my favorite drugstore brand of lipsticks, the Rimmel Lasting finish by Kate in Number 14. It’s a super well known product and many Bloggers rave about it. The formula is super creamy, almost feels like a Mac lipstick. The color i have is a beautiful muted mauve color who tend to appear brown on the picture but i assure you it is not that dark or brown. I think that this color can suit almost every skin tone. Defenitely a must have !

Last one, and by far my favorite is the Topshop lipstick in Screen Siren. If you have the chance to go to Topshop and swatch it, just do it. It’s one of the most gorgeous blue toned red lipstick i own. The formula is amazing, it has a semi matte finish and it doesn’t dry out my lips. It’s super long lasting and very pigmented. It looks sophisticated even with a light make up look.
