The Surgical Tape Eyeliner Trick

The Surgical Tape Eyeliner Trick

I am a huge fan of beauty tricks that can make the everyday makeup easier. I am probably not the only one, that struggle with the “cat eye“. I love doing a simple cat eye look with a bold lipstick, i feel like it’s a very natural effect and it makes the eyes pop. But like most gals, i really struggle at getting it straight and symmetrical. I’ve tried a lot of products/tricks, but none of them really works for me, until i found the tape trick on Pinterest.

It’s pretty popular i guess, as i’ve seen a good amount of post about it. I, first tried it with regular scotch tape and it wasn’t that good. My under eye area is very sensitive and the skin is too fine, so every time i tried it, i ended up with a pretty good flick, but once i take the tape off my skin stays red and itchy. So the day after, i tried it with surgical tape and it works a 100 times better. The surgical tape is more flexible and less harsh on the skin, so the tape really follows the line you want to create opposing to scotch tape.

I was so impressed with this trick, i included a surgical tape to my makeup bag and since, my cat eye never looked better. I even get compliments on it! I’ve been using it with the L’Oreal SuperLiner Luminizer for Hazel Eyes, it’s a liquid eyeliner with a felt tip in the most gorgeous deep purply shade. I wasn’t sure about it, because of the color, but once you try it, you see that the color is pretty dark, the purple tone compliment haze / brown eyes and make them pop. The formula is great, the application goes smoothly and it stays almost all day long if you don’t rub your eyes. So for the past few weeks, i have been using this technique and the L’Oreal eyeliner almost everyday. They also have a couple of eye liners to suit, blue eyes and green eyes, so you should definitely check them out.

That liner sounds and looks so good. I currently use supercat by Soap and Glory, I’ll definitely have to consider buying this. I always struggle creating a perfect flick, I think I’m gonna cheat haha 🙂

This is a great tip for fool proof winged liner. The surgical tape is much more gentle than sticky tape on the delicate eye area too… Carrie | What I Love Today x
