All About That Base

All about that base - Face primers

Last month’s post about Nivea Men Aftershave Balm as a primer was pretty popular, so i decided to share my favorite affordable primers of the moment. We all love to discover drugstore products that actually works, it’s always better to find a cheaper alternative to all those pricey items. I can’t help, but i love me a good base /primer. I use to be very skeptical about them, as i thought i would just make my “getting ready” time longer, but when i finally decided to try some i was hooked, now i am all about that base! I tried so many primers over the years, and some were good and some were horrible. I will spare you some time and only talk about my 2 favorite drugstore options of the moment.

I know what you all thinking, Nivea Men aftershave balm isn’t a primer and you are right, it isn’t marketed as a primer but it should, because this stuff is amazing! I wrote a complete review few weeks ago and i am still loving it. The main thing that makes it work is that it contains a good amount of glycerin. What glycerin does is to create a sticky canvas so all of your makeup is staying in place for several hours. I don’t like to keep makeup on for a long time, but with this one, my makeup looks just as good as when i first apply it. I can go on and on about how amazing the Nivea Men aftershave balm for sensitive skin is but you should try it to see the results.

Now onto Maybelline Baby skin primer, i really like this one as it reminds me of the Benefit Porefessional primer. it has the same silicony feels to it that blurs enlarged pores. To be honest, if i must choose between the Benefit and the Maybelline, i will definitely go for the Benefit one. But for someone who’s looking for a cheaper alternative, or someone who is new to that whole priming thing, this is a pretty good option. it won’t make your pores as blurred as the Porefessional but it does really minimise the appearence of small scars and pores.
