 Natural hair care routine

After my post on my skincare routine, I received a few emails from some lovely readers asking about my natural hair care routine, and some product recommendations. So here we go!

For the past decade, I’ve been the perfect marketing target for beauty brands. I was always on a hunt to discover the new miracle product that will make my hair magically become “healthier” and stronger.

While I am still looking for my hair to become healthier, I am no longer interested in buying chemical-filled products that will harm my health and the environment.

After some internet digging and a lot of googling, it’s insane to realize how much crappy ingredients are hidden in products, I use on a daily basis. Honestly, it’s scary!

You can find more information here and here.

It took me some time to realize that what I was doing to my hair (bleach, Brazilian blowout…) wasn’t good in any way.

Finding a natural hair care routine has been quite a journey for me. The past months I’ve tried so many methods (no poo – vinegar rinse) but none of them really worked.

No matter what I did, I still felt like my hair were kinda greasy and dirty, so I gave up on those DIYs and kept looking for a natural shampoo that will actually clean my hair!

I came across a family company based in the UK, New Dawn organic, who makes natural and organic skin and hair care products.

New Dawn organic range of products is Natural, made with 70 to 100% certified organic ingredients specially selected to relieve skin and scalp problems. They use ingredients like organic essential oils, aloe vera, cocoa butter and rosehip oil. Their products are also free from all nasties such as sulfates, perfume, propylene glycol, parabens, & GMOs. Of course, they are cruelty-free!

I picked up a gel wash for hair, face, and body from their rose geranium line along with few items. (watch out for a future post with a giveaway you don’t want to miss !!) 2 weeks later they were at my door! (yes they offer worldwide delivery !!)

The rose geranium essential oil has many benefits and is well known for regulating sebum secretion and boosting hair growth. So having some hair loss issues, I obviously picked a gel wash to try from their rose geranium line.

I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now and already seeing some results. My hair is fallen a lot less now but not seeing hair growth yet! While I was aware of the fact that transition from a petrochemical routine to a natural hair care routine is quite a journey, I was surprised to see that it only took about 2 weeks for my hair to adapt and get used to my minimal routine.

I am really loving my new gel wash from new dawn organic, it smells fresh and nice. I did experience a light dandruff situation in the first week, but it was all gone a few days later. Surprisingly, this gel wash does foam and latter up pretty well for a natural cleanser.

I’ve used it to wash my face and body, a really good multipurpose gel wash! I am definitely not going back to my old habits. My new routine consists of simply washing my hair, pat dry it a little and apply a small amount of coconut oil throughout my hair to keep them moisturized.

It’s time efficient, eco-friendly and chemical-free!
